December 19, 2024 - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s long-awaited redefinition of “healthy” released today (Thursday) for the first time specifies that coffee is automatically eligible to be labeled as healthy, in alignment with the Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommendation that calorie-free beverages including coffee are preferred in healthy dietary patterns.
September 24, 2024 - Registration is now open for the National Coffee Association’s 2025 Convention, which will take place in Houston, Texas, March 6–8. The Convention is expected to draw over 700 coffee executives and professionals representing roasters, manufacturers, importers, exporters, shippers, nonprofits, and allied businesses.
September 19, 2024 - Out-of-home coffee consumption resumed its highest level since January 2020, and a majority of Americans believe coffee is good for their health according to exclusive consumer polling published ahead of National Coffee Day on September 29.
June 12, 2024 - 45% of American adults had specialty coffee in the past day, up 80% since 2011 and surpassing past-day traditional coffee consumption (44%) for the first time, according to the National Coffee Association (NCA)’s consumer insight report on specialty coffee trends released today (Wednesday).
April 16, 2024 - In testimony to the California State Assembly Committee on Health, the National Coffee Association today (April 16) detailed the safety and health benefits of decaffeinated coffee and strongly opposed a last-minute shift that proposes misleading warning labels after activists failed to support a baseless proposed decaf ban.
In the final hours before the hearing, activist group and sponsor of
California Assembly Bill 2066 the Clean Label Project abandoned the bill’s proposed ban on the most common type of decaffeinated coffee and instead lobbied legislators to advance a last-minute amendment seeking misleading warning labels.
April 11, 2024 - The number of American adults who have had coffee in the past day has increased by 37% since 2004, putting past-day coffee consumption at its highest level in more than 20 years, according to exclusive consumer polling published today (Wednesday) by the National Coffee Association (NCA).
NCA’s Spring 2024 National Coffee Data Trends (NCDT) report reveals that 67% of American adults had coffee in the past day (more than any other beverage, including tap or bottled water), compared to 49% in 2004.
March 8, 2024 - Banning the most common decaffeinated coffee - known as European Method decaf - would unjustifiably deny decaffeinated coffee drinkers access to a safe product associated with decreased risk of multiple cancers and other health benefits, the National Coffee Association (NCA) warned today (Friday).

March 4, 2024 - The National Coffee Association (NCA) has appointed Helena Dean to the role of Director of Integrated Communications.

February 13, 2023 - The $225 billion U.S. coffee sector and more than 1.6 million U.S. jobs rely on coffee supplies from around the world. Coffee growers in Hawaii and Puerto Rico that supply the lucrative specialty coffee market in the United States, as well as growers in low-income countries, are particularly vulnerable to pests and disease. The Coffee Plant Health Initiative Amendments Act (CPHIAA, H.R. 966) will accelerate agricultural research to help overcome these challenges while maintaining flavor and quality.
October 4, 2022 - The National Coffee Association announced that Kathryn Lawson, MS, RDN has been named the new Chair of the NCA’s Science Leadership Council (SLC), the preeminent authority on coffee science in the U.S. In her new role as SLC Chair, Ms. Lawson will guide the work of the Council on a range of scientific issues affecting the coffee industry from regulation and policy to research monitoring, health and nutrition, food safety, and more.

September 6, 2022 - The National Coffee Association, USA (NCA) announced today that Kellem Emanuele has been named Vice President of Operations.
