Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for Paper and Packaging is a policy approach enacted by several states, which holds manufacturers and producers responsible for the end-of-life management of packaging materials that are ultimately discarded or recycled in a state with an EPR law. If your company manufactures coffee that is sold in cups, bags, and other packaging materials, it is likely that you will have reporting and fee obligations in several states. How do you know if you are responsible for reporting and fees? What kind of packaging triggers a responsibility—cups, bags, other? What do you need to do to be in compliance with these laws, and by when?

Join Faegre Drinker attorney Thayer Ellis for an in-depth discussion that will cover these questions and the latest developments in EPR legislation, including insights on Oregon's EPR law which requires companies that sell covered materials in Oregon to report data as early March 31, 2025, and pay fees starting in July 2025. Learn how to understand these complex state laws and ensure your business is prepared.

During this webinar, you will gain clarity on:

  • The states enacting EPR laws and what materials are covered.
  • Reporting and fee obligations for coffee packaging under these regulations.
  • The role of Producer Responsibility Organizations (PROs) and how to register.
  • Steps your coffee company should take now to prepare for compliance.
