NEW YORK| FEBRUARY 27, 2024 - The National Coffee Association (NCA) is proud to name Food 4 Farmers as the 2024 NCA Origin Charity of the Year, sponsored by Mother Parkers Tea & Coffee, in recognition of Food 4 Farmers’ work to strengthen local food systems, promote sustainable farming practices, diversify livelihoods, and cultivate local leadership.
In 2023, Food 4 Farmers’ programs reached 1,723 coffee-farming families, including through the organization’s cornerstone home garden initiative that supported 681 gardens and provided more than 130 days of training.
NCA President and CEO William “Bill” Murray commented:
“There is no coffee without thriving coffee farmers. Food 4 Farmers’ outstanding work cultivates leadership and expertise locally and enables truly sustainable solutions. It is our honor, on behalf of all NCA members, to share in Food 4 Farmers’ mission and to recognize the organization’s leadership and enormous impact.”
Food for Farmers Director and Co-Founder Marcela Pino added:
"Food 4 Farmers is honored to receive this recognition, which underscores the critical link between food security for coffee-farming communities and the sustainability of the coffee industry. By partnering with coffee cooperatives to help their members produce their own food, diversify their income streams, and embed local knowledge, leadership and resources into their communities, our work not only improves the well-being of farming families but also aims to ensure that coffee can be enjoyed for years to come."
NCA also announced Solidaridad Network as the 2024 NCA Origin Charity of the Year Finalist.
